Friday 31st October – Mon 3rd November
This is a brilliant opportunity for those of you wanting to learn more about and improve your own landscape photography skills over a long weekend in autumn. Book into the local accommodation – a former hunting lodge set in thousands of hectares of rugged wilderness – on Friday 31st where a delicious evening meal will be served and we will have an opportunity to meet and form a plan for the weekend based on weather and tide forecasts.
The weekend will likely comprise of three sunrise and sunset opportunities on the stunning and remote Applecross peninsula with its wild coastline and rugged scenery and a day and sunset shoot in Torridon, famous for its ancient sandstone which the awe-inspiring mountains here are formed of. All of the catering is provided including a delicious breakfast at the café in the historic Applecross Walled Garden and evening meal at the famous Applecross Inn, recently awarded Scotland’s Best Pub 2012 by The Good Pub Guide. Accommodation is also taken care of with a single room reserved for each participant and lounge areas to relax in if you find time during the packed weekend.
Autumn and winter are arguably the most photogenic seasons here in the highlands for landscape photography. With the sun constantly low on the horizon during the day and the magnificent spectrum of orange and brown colours naturally occurring thanks to the wild flora on the mountainsides it makes for some truly wonderful photographic opportunities.
The course is aimed at a broad range of users from those still trying to understand their camera and settings through to experienced amateurs and semi-professional photographers looking for an excuse to get out and receive expert tuition. We will cover the whole workflow of a professional digital landscape photographer from planning a photo-shoot right through to printing your favourite image from the weekend on high spec PC with colour calibrated monitors and profiled Epson printer capable of producing stunning 13 inch wide prints.
Head home inspired on Monday (breakfast included) with your very own print in-hand after an adventurous weekend in the beautiful northwest highlands.
